Things started fast for us this season. After a 0:0 draw vs. Tandagree, Fat striker scored the first 2 of his 23 goals for the season to lead us to a surprising 3:0 win against our nemisis Tobermore Utd. Unfortunatly, that was the high water mark for the year and other than doing the double against Dergview (another pain in our backside usually), the year was a never ending roller coaster ride. We were never in danger of relegation, but closed the season LDL to finish at our lowest point all year: Ninth.
Board was satisfied with my performance and offerred me a two year contract with a raise to 300 per week. I asked for only one year as I am getting itchy feet and would like a higher profile job. The board granted my wish. They are grumbling however because we are hemmoragging cash despite my keeping the wage bill under budget.
Biggest surprise of the year was that my scout stumbled out of a Public House and accidently bumped into a GK who was upset with his plying time at Linfield. He turned out to be light years better than either of my first team GKs who weren't actually that bad. Just as my offer for him on a free was accepted, my Chairman accepted an offer of 50,000 from East Stirling for my starting GK. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good. In my scout's case, I guess its better to be drunk than good. Total of 3 players in on frees and 9 out for 55,000.
I keep fighting off offers for Fat Striker and Captain AFC as well as a promising MC (the Prodigy). I did sell my starting MC for 5,000 to clear the way for the Prodigy.
Oh yeah...Cups Suck Arse. So does the bizarre Northern Ireland Calendar that has us only play seven matches between New Years Day and the end of the season in April.
