I don't think I could ever play in Mexico.

Something I noticed after the first full year - you get to vote for the best player in each category - even if my players have never made the shortlist, it still feels good to voice your vote, remembering that fat bastard that scored on the last minute against you, or the dominating DC that flung your strikers like flies....

good times..

That reminds me... I could vote for player of the season in the Conference North, but since winning promotion out of it haven't done so since.

Ok, lets try and be more formal with the updates:

Season 5 - Tiburones Rojos 2009 Clausura

Finished 12th, didn't even make it to the playoffs; however I was able to start consolidating the finances and the future of the club by importing young cheap players whom my scouts (now I have five!) swore on their mother's grave would be the best of the best of the best. A bit of a stretch...

Interliga cup - Tiburones Rojos
This is the tournament played in the winter between the two seasons (and the top two go to the Libertadores Cup). We sucked big time, losing the first two games in horrendous fashion.

Season 6 - Tiburones Rojos 2010 Apertura

Finished 5th, a great performance by the team; really impressed. We squeezed into the playoffs and saw us win in decisive fashion the Quarter and semifinals, stumbling a little against Tigres in the final to win 2-1.

Remember all those young foreign players? They started growing up and I needed to play the or sell them. Fortunately we qualified for the Copa Sudamericana which allowed me to field two different teams.

Champions Trophy 2010

Yet another competition I was unaware of. It is similar to the Community Shield - the winners of the previous two seasons play against each other. The monetary rewards are minimal, BUT, the winner automatically qualifies for the next Copa Libertadores. We won against Pachuca on aggregate 4-3, a really tough match series.

Season 7 - Tiburones Rojos 2010 Apertura

We finished 9th in the league, but managed to squeeze to the playoffs again and went all the way to the final. Now, in classic Mexican inconsistency we lost the away game 1-4. Boy did it hurt. I was royally ****ed at the whole squad and decided to swap everyone and the waterboy for the home game. We won the game 1-0, so Pachuca were deserved winners. In a moment of foolish management, I was unable to retain one of my most promising stars, an 18yr old Brazilian DR - he signed on a Bosman to Benfica - so upset I was at his lack of loyalty I sent him with the kid's team - only to realize that my young Colombian super DR was injured - so I had to bring from obscurity my good but fickle older DR. What a mess, and all this due to (1) my stupidity and (2) stubbornness...

No Interliga cup for us, as we secured a spot to the Libertadores already--- so South America here we come!
