2013/14 Motor Lublin Polish 1st Division

Again the board expected us to challenge for the League title. I felt confident we could do so. But I was anticipating another sojourn into Europes' premier competition more than the league. It was to be a season of ups and downs!

League - 1st (of 16) P:30 W:17 D:7 L:6 F:66 A:21 Pts: 61 Champions!
Polish FA Cup - 4th Round Lost to rivals Lechia Gdansk 4-0 (played mostly reserve team, but losing to rivals so drastically was something the board and fans never forgot! )
Polish League Cup - Semi-Final Lost to Belchatow 2-1 agg
Champions Cup - Eliminated at Group Stage

Very strange season, had the highs of another league win and making it to the Champions Cup Group stage. But the lows of being humiliated by my rivals in the FA cup and played off the park in Champions Cup group games.

In Europe, we progressed to the groups with a great 2-2 agg (7-6 pens) win over Reading. Only to face a group consisting of Inter (2-0 H, 4-1 A) PSV (1-0 H 3-0 A) and Fenerbache (2-0 H 6-1 A) and not gain a single point! We were atrocious.

My contract is up and I'm now looking to move on. I've developed a great affinity with Lublin, but I can't see them progressing any further. Time to move to greener pastures. Updates to come soon.

Update

Applied for and was accepted as manager of Portsmouth in the English Championship. They are struggling, having spent the last 3 years languishing there. Only just avoiding relegation to League 1 last season.

This is, despite having a world-renowned Dutch manager at the helm? I've arrived to a club with a massive transfer budget. I think, WOW!!

Its only after a few minutes, I realise , afore mentioned Dutch "God" Manager, has sold half the 1st team squad for about $30m+ leaving me with only 1 quality defensive player (mind you, he is superior quality!), no full-backs, no central midfielders and only 1 quality ST (quality, but on the wrong side of 30!)

All I can say, is thank god he left me some money to play with!

I'm currently poaching my best players from Lublin to come join me at Portsmouth. Hoping at least 3 or 4 of the stars will come.
